Colonia Viminacium Curiosity, 3 fused coins

Colonia Viminacium Curiosity, 3 fused coins

Æ; each at c. 27mm

One emperor is Philip, one may be Gordian III (?) and the center coin is, of course, a mystery.

Seller's Note/ Most likely from a buried and forgotten hoard. Also, there is no evidence that they are from Colonia Viminacium; they could be from Colonia Dacia.

To separate or not to separate, that is the question. Were I going to keep them, I'd simply leave them stuck together 'as is' and just clean the two outside coins...without distilled water soaks.  But if you want to separate them, DW soaks is the way to go, as they are only held together by dirt. If so, each should turn out VF with a beautiful green patina and you'll solve two mysteries; 1) Who is the emperor on the center issue. 2) Are they from Col Vim or Col Dacia?
