Baldric Terminal, ca. 2nd- 3rd Cent AD has been added to your Cart

Ave!

Handle, Zoomorphic Dolphin, Roman Dalmatia, 2nd-3rd Cent. AD

Copper alloy; 73mm/39.9gm (broken in half so double the size and weight for 'as unbroken').

Con/ Broken in half, otherwise, as cast; choice green patina, cleaned and waxed

Much too large to be Roman helmet 'carry handle' yet similar to A&L # AA.4.10.

Most likely, this was a handle for a box/cabinet or furniture pull owned by a wealthy Roman citizen that had the denarius to afford such a fancy item.

Rare/scarce in this condition and perfect for collectors.
