Ave!
Ring, Roman, Ladies, Gold with Gem, ca.1st-3rd Cent, RARE!
Gold; 4.2gm - Ring size 6 1/4
Con/ Missing small piece of the lower bezel, otherwise, about As Fabricated. Wearable, for sure.
Description/ The oval five tiered bezel and the band were created separately then assembled onto the band The three gold beads flanking the bezel were then added to the band.
Seller's Note/ How this extraordinary ring survived all those centuries in the ground is not the question. The real question is who and how it was made. For size reference, the gold beads on the band are only 2mm and the lower tiers are less than 1mm! Are you kidding me right now? Could any modern gold smith actually create such a delicate ring as ours from scratch without present day technology? Very doubtful. The fellow who made this ring was a certainly a master gold smith, no doubts at all. But you have to ask yourself how he could create such tiny and perfectly round balls as seen on the third tier? I'm no gemologist, and have no idea as to the dark blue semi-precious stone, but it is certainly not glass.
Our listed price for this spectacular ring is ridiculously low, folks, about half what you would pay in a well-advertised auction, that is, if you could even find one similar to ours.
