Ave!

Avar, Belt Mount Trio, Griffin!, c. 6th-7th Cent AD Rare!

Copper alloy for all; the center mount is 25mm/4.0gm

Con/ As Cast

Description/ As seen in the photo, two of the mounts are standard fair, but the mount far left is not! It actually features the head of a Griffin facing, feathers, beak and all! Rare,Rare, Rare!

Seller's Note/ The Avars loved their bling and this is no exception. Such belt mounts were set into to the back of their belts to flash. Strap ends were also affixed to the back of their belts as to dangle and flash, making a jingling sound as they rode along.

Imagine the jolly and jingling Avars sweeping into your town or village...and burning it to the ground.
