Ave!

Belt Mount, Pseudo-armorial, Austro-Hungarian Empire, ca 18th-19th Cent

Copper alloy; 42mm/13.4gm

Con/ about As Cast; both attachment prongs with original leather! OMG!

Seller's Note/ Sadly, the armorial badge has no legend whatsoever to identify the wearer. It could have been an army officer, or an official of some sort, maybe even the local mailman. Who knows? The true surprise with this belt mount is the original leather backing still in situ. It was certainly lost/buried in an anerobic environment =  relating to, involving, or requiring an absence of free oxygen. What happened to the owner and why he lost his belt will remain a mystery.
