Belt Buckle, 17th Cent, Magnificent!

Copper Alloy; 60mm x 58mm/31gm

Con/ Plow ding on the reverse, otherwise, As Fabricated, jaw-dropping glossy green patina; all parts remain moveable.

Description/ Constructed in four parts; frame, frame wrap, prong, and the attachment plate. The top of the frame features a thin roll of copper alloy to add heft and strength. The attachment plate began as flat, then cut and engraved, after which it was bent and rolled into its present shape. Once done, all were assembled together and affixed to the leather belt strap with two pins, still existent.

Seller's Note/ This is truly a magnificent example of a 17th Century belt buckle. The engraved flowers growing up from the grass are simply charming. Stout and well-constructed, it can easily be attached to another leather strap and worn once more. Wow!
