Ave!
Viking era Strap Adornment with Axe Pendents, c. 10th-12th Century AD
Silvered copper alloy; 41mm x 1mm/1.3gm
The two axe pendent rings have been replaced as they were rotting away.
Ground found in Hungary near the Danube river, such delicate reminders of the Viking presence in the Danube area are extremely rare.
So rare, in fact, all we can really tell you for sure is that it is Viking. We're calling it a 'strap adornment' but it's true use is problematic; your guess is as good as ours.
