In Greek mythology, Amazon Kyme was the legendary founder of the Aeolian city of Kyme in Asia Minor. She is depicted on ancient coins of the city, often shown wearing a headband (taenia) and sometimes accompanied by a horse (a symbol of the city's prosperous horse breeding industry), Eagles, One-handled Cups, and other issues referring to Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the Hunt. While the Amazons were a mythical tribe of female warriors, Kyme's story is linked to the city's origin myth, connecting it to this powerful female warrior group
