Seller's Note/ Panticapaeum (from Scythian Pantikapa = 'fish-path') was an ancient Greek city on the eastern shore of Crimea, which the Greeks called Taurica. The city lay on the western side of the Cimmerian Bosporus and was highly influenced by it's Scythian trading partners. Scythian warriors were noted for their mounted archery skills using recurved bows, hence the Scythian Bow seen on the reverse of this issue.

These issues are scarce, especially in such remarkable condition. A drop-dead magnificent example of this ancient issue. If you collect Panticapaeum coins, this is one that will be a gem in your collection!
