Æ 24mm/5.1gm. Struck circa 250-200 B.C. 

Obv/ Head of Poseidon right.

Rev/ ΓANTI; galley prow l.

Con/ chVF+ (for the issue) with glossy dark green patina.

But...but...where's the head of Poseidon on the obverse, you may ask? Long gone as this coin has a bit of history. It was recalled to the city and then counter-marked with the head of Athena wearing helmet on the reverse. Ref/ MacDonald # 126

A short while after it was again recalled and counter-marked with the head of an old satyr right over the Athena counter-mark on the reverse. Ref/ MacDonald #127.

Seller's Note/ Such double counter-marking pretty much destroys/obliterates the original obverse as seen in our issue (that's normal)...but with the clear the two counter-marks? Very rare and highly collectable.
