Fine Silver/AR; 21mm/2.9gm         Rome, 4th Series, Struck 241-243 A.D.

Con/ about Extremely Fine; fresh and lustrous; well-centered and struck on a large flan.

Obv/ IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG; laur., dr. and cuir. bust right

Rev/ LAETITIA AVG N; Laetitia standing left, holding wreath and anchor

Ref/ RIC Vol 4c 113; Like all Gordian III denarius, RIC notes this Rome Mint as Rare.

Seller's Note/ Laetitia was the personification of joy and good grace. Awe...but all that joy and grace couldn't save Gordian as he was murdered by Philip the Arab shortly after this coin was struck. Ouch!
