Rev/ IOVIS STATOR; Jupiter stg. facing, head right, holding long scepter in left hand and holding thunderbolt close to his body in right hand

Ref/ RIC Vol 4c 112; RIC notes this Rome Mint as Rare.

Seller's Note/ One of the titles given to Jupiter/Iovi was Stator as seen on this rare issue. STATOR basically translates to "Slayer of armies about to flee". The reverse alludes to Gordian's campaign in Persia where the enemy were compelled to flee Mesopotamia.
