Ave!
Ring, Medieval, Men's, Walking Stork Intaglio, ca. 11th-16th Cent
Copper alloy; 7.1gm, Ring size 9 3/4!
Con/ About as Fabricated; superb dark brown patina.
Description/ Deeply engraved stork on an oval bezel, walking to left, wing and tail feathers raised, crest feathers, star in right field, crescent moon above, decorated shoulders on the band. WOW!
Seller's Note/ This is certainly one the finest of such "Good Luck" stork rings we have ever presented in NRC! The hand-engraved details are absolutely fantastic.
This ring was found in the very same farm fields as similar 'walking stork motif' rings also presented in our shop. But why such walking storks? In medieval times, as well as now, storks were a symbol of good luck, longevity, and when they returned to their nests from Africa, it was Spring and time to plant your crops.
Rings were made to be worn, not tucked away. The longer this ring is worn the better it will look!
