Ring, Byzantine/Medieval, ca. 9th thru 16th Cent AD
Copper alloy; ring size 10
Con/ sound and wearable.
Seller's Note/ The design on this signet ring is certainly problematical. The design appears to be the skeleton of a fish and if so, it certainly a Christian motif. If not, your guess as to the symbolism is as good as ours.
“As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will make you fishers of men.' At once they left their nets and followed him.”— Mark 1:16-18
