Roman ladies tended to wear pins with lovely designs such as birds or hands holding a pearl on the terminal; ours features a finial simply decorated with circles.

We see lots of these on eBay, advertised as 'voting sticks' at exorbitant high prices. They are NOT voting sticks but rather simple hair pins.
