Ave!

From the Vada M Sandes Collection

Maya, Eccentric Flint, Snake Type, c. 500-800 AD, Uber Rare!

Chert; 5 inches/6.8oz!

Con/ Acid washed to remove stony inclusions, otherwise, As Napped.

Provenance/ My mother, God bless her memory, was a big shot in the American Baptist Church during the 1970s. As such, she was an integral member who traveled world-wide, mostly in Eastern Europe for the church investigating the best way to spend their money for worth-while causes. But, one year or another, her delegation surely traveled to Central America.

It was only after her demise in 2012 that we found this eccentric flint in a disintegrating shoe-box in her garage. Wrapped about the flint was a note scrawled on faded lined paper -  Lamanai, Belize - sadly with no date.

Seller's Note/ Such eccentric flints, stand included, are extremely rare and never seen outside of museums.
