Fine Silver Plated/Subaeratus; 18mm/3.8gm        Rome ca. 46 BC

Con/ Struck o/c on the reverse, otherwise, Very Fine.

Obv/ Diademed and winged bust of Victory right, wearing earring and necklace; jeweled hair pulled into knot.

Rev/ Victory driving galloping biga right, holding reins and wreath. T CARISI in exergue.

Seller's Note/ As mentioned above, this issue is a silver plated contemporary imitation = ancient forgery! In hand, the obverse appears to be just as smooth and glossy as the reverse. Only due to the vagaries of the lighting and extreme magnification is the forgery revealed by the buckling of the silver plating.
