Rev/ PROVIDENTIAE AVG; Commodus, as Hercules, std. l., resting his foot on a prow and holding his club on a tree-stump, clasping hand with the figure of Africa, who is wearing an  elephant-skin head-dress and holding a sistrum, with a lion at her feet.

Seller's Note/ The reverse on this rare issue refers to the foresight of Commodus in reorganizing the North African grain fleet, ca. 191 AD, which he renamed the Commodiana Herculea.
