Ave!

Colonia Viminacium, Moesia Superior, Philip I with Two Vexilla reverse, On Hold!

Æ Sestertius; 30mm/19.6gm  Struck 244 AD.

Con/ Perfectly centered and sharply struck to either side, full legends, glossy green patina...and really bad photos!

Obv/ IMP IVL PHILIPPVS PIVS FEL AVG P M; laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Philip I, right, seen from rear.

Rev/ P M S COL VIM, AN V; Moesia standing left, holding two vexilla inscribed VII and IIII; at left, bull standing right; at right, lion standing left

Ref/ AMNG 98

Seller's Notes/ The P M at the end of the obverse legend = Parthicus Maximus, which is a bit of bragging on Philip's part as he never fought the Parthians, only settled a treaty with them LOL!

As sort of seen (again the really poor photos), this very rare issue has been nearly cleaned. All that remains are the fiddly bits on the legends and the reverse details, especially the two vexilla with VII and IIII. They are so tiny that normal cleaning tools will NOT work. We suggest that if you do not have them, our Conservators Finishing Needles are perfect.
