Ave!
Buckle, Plain Loop with Fixed Triangular Plate, 4th Century
Copper alloy; 53mm/12.1gm
Con/ As Fabricated; three attachment holes, tongue swivels, glossy green patina.
Ref/ Appels & Laycock; SL 10 var. (Not listed in A&L nor B&C for this type!)
Seller's Note/ This stout buckle served its purpose well for a number of years as the tongue is slightly bent from use. But, the manufacturer was a bit shoddy when he drilled the off-set hole at the terminal end, right? Best guess is the buckle was used by a low level legionaire, just a common grunt. LOL!
