Seller's Note/ Among Kraftig Profilierte (= German for well-crafted) brooches, there exists a sub-class known as Pannonia Anchor types for two reasons. The first is obvious as it is shaped like an anchor, right? The second is that such brooches are only found in Pannonia, a province of the Roman Empire bounded on the north and east by the Danube, on the west by Noricum and upper Italy, and on the southward by Dalmatia and upper Moesia. It included the modern regions of western Hungary, western Slovakia, eastern Austria, northern Croatia, north-western Serbia, northern Slovenia, and northern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
