Seller's Note/ Obsidian was rare in the Maya lowlands and not available except via trade. Their nearest resource for such was from the Valley of Mexico nearly 850 miles to the north. We have no explanation as to why this delightful piece was tossed into the midden heap. Perhaps the knapper was an apprentice and his master told him it was not up to standard? Either way, we'll never know.
Museum quality and extremely rare. If anyone wants to know the long story, let us know.
