Ring, Medieval, Ladies, Futhark Runes, ca. 15th-16th Cent, Inexplicable!

Copper alloy; 1.9gm / Ring Size 7

Con/ As Fabricated; dark brown patina, sound and certainly wearable.

Description/ Band cast as one piece and then engraved with three "Elder Futhark" runes on an ovoid bezel. To either side of the bezel, three parallel vertical lines; below, one horizontal line. The runes = I Z S.

Seller's Note/ This enigmatic ring, and another with the exact same runes, were both ground-found in the same farm field located south of the River Drava, in north-eastern Croatia. This was not just coincidence, folks. The ring begs many questions for which we have no answers. What were rings with German "Elder Futhark" runes (ca. 2nd-8th Cent. AD) doing in Croatia to begin with? Why were they still being used after falling out of use for the last 700 years? What do the letters I Z S signify? A monogram of a family name, a trade guild, perhaps even a secret society? If you have any theorys of your own, please let us know!

Of further note, although we listed this ring as worn by a lady, it may have been worn by a man.
