Ave!

Celtic Proto Ring Money, Uncommon, c. 600-400 BC

Copper alloy; 17mm/ 5.9gm.

Seller's Note/ Long before the introduction of struck coinage into ancient Celtic Europe, such  copper rings were used as trade currency by Celtic tribes and were often worn on clothing or tied together by ropes. The most common types were simple round rings, while others had a few knobs or lugs that were worn as beads or jewelry in one manner or another.

Scarce, ours was ground found in a long-forgotten Celtic settlement south of the River Drava.
