Ave!
Celtic 'Astragal' stiffener fragments, c. 500-100 BC
Copper alloy; c. 15mm- 45mm
Con/ Broken and uncleaned. These can be easily cleaned with simple DW soaks, tooth-brushing and a toothpick. Yes, that simple. To bring out the color of the green patina, all you need is an application of Ren Wax, a quick buff and Bob's your uncle!
Seller's Note/ Late Bronze - Early Iron age Celts; these artifacts are found throughout the Danube area and were certainly used as trade items. Belt stiffeners, they were sewn onto a pounded felt belt worn as armor.
These fragments are sold at one ounce each and not for all seen in the photo. One ounce will equal 7-9 fragments depending upon the weight.
Found in Roman Dalmatia and perfect for collecting or shadowboxing. Unbroken examples of these are very rare.
