Roman-era Ladies Hair Pin, Hand Holding Pearl, c. 1st-3rd Cent.
Æ 15cm/13.9gm
Con/ complete and unbroken; deep green patina, cleaned and waxed.
Seller's Note/ This 'hand holding a pearl' hair pin was a common but popular motif for Roman ladies. Why a pearl? Pearls were very expensive back in Roman times as they were imported from as far away as India.
Our complete hair pin is extremely rare as nearly all were plow-broken after 1700 years in the ground. You may never see another one, especially at our low price, trust me.
