Ring, Roman, Men\'s, Legionary, c. 1st-5th Cent

Roman Legionary Ring 1st-5th century.

Copper alloy; Ring size 6 1/2

Such rings were worn by soldiers of Roman legions as a form of identification and as a sign of profession. The most common type is the "garrison" ring (our example) that has a square bezel with lines cutting off the corners of the bezel (symbolizes the walls of the garrison).
