One lot of Six coins Holed in Antiquity

The four smaller coins seen in the photo are LRBC; the two larger are earlier, perhaps Trajan issues? Hard to tell until after final cleaning and attribution but the coin seen middle top has a very obvious SC on the reverse.

Not sure about you, but we really enjoy seeing such 'holed' coins as it gives them more personality than just another uncleaned coin, you know? Were they holed by Roman citizens or Gauls or Germans...and for what purpose? The real gem of these six coins is the triple-holed issue seen lower middle. We have seen such coins in a number of catalogs and all have described as being attached to Roman cavalry harnesses. Dull-looking now, but back when it was new it was bright and shiny...and perhaps a less expensive adornment?

Easy to clean, just soft know what to do. ;-)
