Billon trachy; 32mm/4.0gm, Constantinople mint, struck c. 1143-1180 AD

Con/ Very Fine (for the issue); double strike on the obverse (two heads?), crisp reverse and scarce with near full legend

Obv/ IC - XC; Christ seated on throne, facing, holding book of gospels in left hand, no star above.

Rev: MANVHL DECPOT; The Virgin, right, crowning Manuel wearing loros, holding labarum with cross.

Sellers Note/ Quality control at the mint was nearly non-existent and we're pleased to present this trachy as a much better than normal example.
