Pomander, Medieval c. 14th-17th Cent

Copper alloy;  30mm/4.5gm

Con/ 'as cast', no breaks and still usable; brown patina with gold gilding, cleaned and waxed.

Seller's note/ Such small pomanders were always cast hollow with a pair of holes at the top near the attachment loop, where a pleasant scent or perfume could be injected within. Pomanders were either worn on a chain about the neck, or on a brooch, where they could easily brought to the wearers nose. Very rare in this condition;
