Ave!
Roman Bronze Phallic Harness Pendent, 1st-3rd Cent AD, LOOK!
Copper Alloy; 62mm/28.9gm = a mega whopper! :-)
Con/ Superb and flawless dark green patina, loop intact.
Description/ Phallus to right, to left, a mano fico (properly, ‘mano fica’). Such "mano fico" was an ancient obscene gesture, and is also one of the better known protective gestures against the evil eye. The thumb and fist gesture is an ancient representation of sexual union. Below...is rather obvious. ;-)
Ref/ Nicolay type B4
Seller's Note/ Large Phallus pendents as this, due to it's rude nature, were attached as harness adornments by Roman cavalry men.
