Stylus Nib, c. 1st-3rd Cent, Rare!
Copper alloy; 41mm/6.1gm -- 17CM with handle
Con/ As fabricated; parti-colored green patina, cleaned and waxed
Seller's Note/ This is a very curious artifact, the first we've ever seen, let alone presented here on NRC. As seen in the photo, this nib was attached to a simple carven wooden handle that could easily be replaced. This stylus nib was certainly made for hard use, perhaps in a manufactory or warehouse, and not a regular household item.
We have taken the liberty to re-create the shaft as general representation as how it would appeared in the Roman era, 2000 years ago.
