Seller's Note/ What a very curious object! It could be Celtic, or Roman...or even much later. Is it even an earring? Or perhaps just a simple loop used for another purpose?

Old metal, including gold, becomes brittle. We suggest that you do not attempt to open the ear post yourself; this is a job for a competent jeweler. But it can easily attached to a gold chain and worn as a necklace pendent!
