Ave!

Roman-era Sewing Needle, c. 1st-3rd Cent

Copper alloy; 106mm/4.0gm

Con/ unbroken with eye intact; Rare in such condition and still useable

Seller's Note/ Every once in a while you may see something on eBay advertised as a Roman thimble. Not!  It wasn't until the early 17th century that needles of reasonably high quality steel began to be fabricated in Europe in significant volumes so that thimbles were needed.
