Con/ Extremely Fine; Perfect centering and complete crisp legends on each side from fresh dies; beautiful black-and-tan toning. 

Obv/ IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG; laur, dr. and cuir. bust right

Rev/ IOVIS STATOR; Jupiter stg. facing, head right, holding long scepter in left hand holding and thunderbolt close to his body.

Rome Mint:

Ref/ RIC IVc, 12; RIC notes this Rome Mint as Rare.

Seller's Note/ One of the titles given to Jupiter/Iovi was Stator as seen on this rare issue. STATOR basically translates to "Slayer of armies about to flee". The reverse alludes to Gordian's campaign in Persia where the enemy were compelled to flee Mesopotamia.
