Ave!

Nerva, As, the God Augustus obverse, Rare!

Æ As; 28mm/10.7gm   Mint of Rome struck ca. 96 AD

Con/ Soft strike to right, otherwise, good Fine; Near-full legends and beautiful glossy green turquoise patina. Much, much better in hand...trust me.

Obv/ DIVVS AVGVSTVS; Bare head r.

Rev/ IMP NERVA CAES AVG REST S C; Winged thunderbolt

Ref/ RIC VOL II, 130 = Rare

Seller's Note/ After the death of Domitian, the wise and aged Nerva only served as emperor for one and a half years. No fool, during his short term, he stuck coins to commemorate Augustus, as a reminder to the citizens of Rome that he too, and his adoptive son, Trajan, would now rule without the heavy-handed oppression of the three previous Flavian emperors.
