Ave!

Key Ring, Rotary, c. 2nd Cent, Very Rare!

Copper alloy; 20mm/4.2gm

Con/ As fabricated; superb and glossy green patina.

Seller's Note/ Small rotary key rings, such as this, were used to lock small cabinets and boxes; the lock smith who created this key was on the cutting edge of Roman technology.

A truly wonderful example of a non-broken and complete rotary key ring that was used to keep things secret and safe by well-to-do ancient Romans who could afford the price of such an expensive key.

Such ring keys were worn on a chain or strap about the neck, not on a finger, but if you are so inclined, it's a ring size 5 1/2
