Ave!

Strap End, Classic, Phallic, ca. 2nd-3rd Cent AD, 4-Pack

Copper alloy; c. 34mm, brown and green patina, cleaned and waxed.

Ref/ AA 11.5 vars, B&C page 145, figures 11 and 12

Seller's Note/ Once belts began to be split into two ends from the mid 2nd century, each end had a narrow terminal - usually with a pendant on a hinged strap-end. These terminals were used in pairs and were usually identical. The most common form was the narrow tear-drop which was in use circa AD 150/160 - 250/300.  All Roman military collectors will appreciate and add these to their collection, especially those who are trying to complete a full set.
