Roman-era Table Knife Handle, c. 2nd-4th Cent

Seller's Note/ As presented in the photo, this unusually small table knife has a flat bottom and vaguely chevron-shaped pattern below where the iron blade (long disintegrated) would have been attached. Like normal, it was designed so that it could be rested blade-up on the table. An ephemeral reminder that even in the Dalmatian and Pannonia Provinces, there was still decorum in middle-class Roman homes.
