Ave!

Earring, Celtic, Fine Silver, c. 5th-4th Cent. BC

Fine Silver; 16mm/2.9gm.

Con/ As Cast; cleaned, not waxed..

Seller's Note/ Ground-found in a small Celtic settlement located on the southern bank of the Drava River, this one of the oldest earrings we have ever presented here on NRC and certainly the most beautiful! As seen in the photo, once one of the two ends had been pierced into the wearers ear, it would have been crimped in such a manner that it could not be removed.

FYI - ancient silver tends to become quite brittle over 2,500 years and we suggest that you do not attempt to bend the loop or it will break. Just saying...

A lovely piece for ancient jewelry collectors! Very Rare and Museum Quality!
