Ave!

Pendent, Bulls Horns, Romano/Celtic, c. 1st-3rd Cent AD

Copper alloy; 20mm/3.5gm  Cleaned not waxed

Con/ about As Cast & Fabricated; wearable!

Seller's Note/ As seen in the photo, this pendant was cast as one piece, then engraved and gilded with gold. The shape of the pendent suggests of the horns of a bull, a symbol of great strength.

Who wore it? Most likely a man do to the bull horns shape, but not necessarily. I asked Sheri, our direct source for all things girly, if she would wear it, and she said, "Absolutely! It's beautiful!" Who am I to disagree? LOL!

Just so you know, earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit the museum located in the ancient Roman city of Vinkovci, Croatia. Believe it or not, I found the very same pendent in one of their showcases. As seen the the final photo, their example was appears to be wrought of gold, rather that copper alloy like our example. The museums representation allows that such pendents were further adorned with strings of multi-colored beads.

Either way, it is quite rare in this sublime condition and It was certainly worn nearly 2,000 years ago. Will you be the next to wear it?
