Ave!

Brooch, Knee, Semicircular Headed type, ca. 2nd Cent. AD, Size Matters!

Copper alloy; 67mm/58.0gm!

Con/ A few minor dings, otherwise, As Fabricated; non-broken original pin and spring (!); eye-pleasing hand-engraving about; glossy green patina with bronze highlights.

Ref/ Hattatt? Not listed!

Seller's Note/ This is one seriously massive brooch, kids, weighing in at over 2 full ounces, and spring and pin are 3mm wide! The Roman man who purchased this brooch, wisely wanted one that would last for his lifetime, for sure. For his lifetime? Heck, it can still be worn now!

In all honesty, Semicircular Headed Knee Brooches are common as muck, but not like this one. We've never presented, nor seen, such a beast of a brooch!
