Marcus Aurelius, Sestertius, Parthian Victory Reverse

Æ 30mm/22.8gm        Rome, ca 166 AD

Con/ A few spots of corrosion, otherwise, after appropriate restoration, Very Fine. Well-centered to either side, complete legends, excellent image of Victory. (See below for cleaning hints.)

Obv/ M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG ARM PARTH MAX; laureate head right.

Rev/ TR POT XX IMP IIII COS III, S-C; Victory standing right, holding palm and attaching a shield inscribed VIC PAR to a palm tree.

Ref/ RIC Vol III 934; Cohen 810.

Seller's Note/ Due to the vagaries of lighting, the surfaces appear dry and dull. In hand the patina is quite glossy, trust me. Distilled water soaks, hand-held tools only, patience and a steady hand. Wax and buff and Bob's your uncle!
