Ave!

Armenian Kings of Sophene, Arsames I, Horse Head reverse, Extremely Rare!

Æ Chalkous; 14mm/3.0gm     Struck circa 255-225 BC

Con/ Well-centered and sharply stuck on a short flan, otherwise and after precise cleaning, Good Very Fine.

Obv/ Draped bust of Arsames to left, wearing a cylindrical tiara with doomed top, tied with a diadem and decorated with jewels.

Rev/  BAΣIΛE[ΩΣ] - APΣA[MOY]; Head of a horse to right.

Ref/ Kovacs 10

Seller's Note/ Yeah, I know our photo sucks, but this coin does not. LOL! Very hard to see, but the jewels in the cylindrical tiara are quite crisp and easily seen in sunlight...trust me.

And if this is not enough to convince of you the value of this rare issue, take a long look at the last photo. This one, not even close to ours condition-wise, sold at acution for nearly $600!

For cleaning, DW soaks, sharp hand-held tools and lots of patience! Once finished, you'll not only have very valuable coin to add to your collection but one you cleaned all by yourself.
