Ave!

T. Carisius, Denarius, Winged Victory with Victory in Biga Reverse

Silver Plated; 18mm/3.8gm    Rome ca. 46 BC

Con/ Good Very Fine with bright silver. Not sure why the obverse appears to look as it does, but in hand, it is smooth as seen on the reverse, trust me. :-)

Obv/ Diademed and winged bust of Victory to right.

Rev/ Victory driving biga to right.

Ref/ Syd 986

Seller's Note/ As noted above, this coin is a contemporary imitation = ancient forgery! So, why is the silver so shiny? Ancient Roman forgers, after striking their imitations in bronze, covered them in a higher grade of silver that were used in the official mints!
