Copper alloy; 80mm/13.6gm ca. 125-15 BC.
Con/ Minor pitting, otherwise, As Fabricated; green patina with bronze highlights.
Description/ One-piece construction, four winds on the spring with the tenon below the bow, the bow is ribbon shaped above a small ornamental "knot" of thin horizontal bands, the bow narrows below the knot to a pointed foot, pierced parallel to the catch plate. The bow features two paralleled lines with tiny engraving to either side. Such Jezerine fibulae were one of the most popular forms of attire from the Late La Tène period, that is, the LT D2 phase (125 - 15 B.C.)
Seller's Note/ What makes this brooch so remarkable is that it is intact and unbroken and the pin still attaches to the catch plate!
