Ave!
Lamp, Jewish Menorah/Candlestick Type, ca. 400-600 AD
Clay; 90mm/46.3gm
Con/ As Mold Caste; pale reddish clay with earthen deposits.
Seller's Note/ As seen in the final photo, the spout is decorated with a stylized menorah: six candles flanking central pole, the spout of the lamp acts as the 7th candle when lit! Because most Jewish families during this time could not afford an actual menorah in their home, these menorah oil lamps were the closest thing. Ref: Cf. Bussiere & Rivel, La Collection Rivel. (2012), p. 274-5, no. 326 and Bailey BM III, pl. 60, Q2332 for parallels.
Most likely, this never used lamp was manufactured in Palestine.
