Ave!

Buckle, Serpent, Broadhead, Open Loop Type, ca. 4th Cent AD, RARE!

Copper Alloy; 43mm x 32mm / 30.4gm!

Con/ Missing prong, otherwise, about As Cast and Engraved. Deep green patina with residual traces of rust from the missing iron prong.

Description/ Two serpents with engraved teeth and big broad heads holding a diamond shape in their mouths.

Seller's Note/ The heads are usually dolphins and they hold a circle or globe between them but there are variations with diamonds like this one and some heads are clearly not dolphins, again like this one. Overall the type is most common in Britain and Germany but ours is certainly a regional variation. Very rare and highly collectible!
