Con/ Sharply struck to either side, green patina with soft earthen fill; slightly off-center on the reverse, otherwise, after appropriate cleaning, Very Fine.

Obv/ ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT; laureate (not radiate) head right.

Rev/ VOTA PVBLICA S-C; Caracalla, veiled and togate, standing left by lighted altar, holding patera, left hand at his side, victim by altar.

Ref/ RIC Vol IVa 517; Cohen 677 (bust laureate right; BMCRE 258.

Seller's Note/ As noted above, RIC refers to Cohen 677 (bust laureate right)  for this issue as a sestertius. This curious coin is not to be found on WildWinds, nor V-Coins either.
