Marcus Porcius Cato (95–46 BC), also known as Cato the Younger, was the irascible Roman senator, staunch Stoic philosopher, and defender of the Republic against Julius Caesar. Celebrated for his incorruptible virtue and strict adherence to traditional Roman values, he aligned with Pompey, eventually dying by self murder in Utica rather than living under Caesar's dictatorship.
